2 Corinthians 4:15 KJV For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
As I was watching Liberty being pardoned by President Obama, I really got to thinking about the meaning of pardon. I got to thinking “When have I ever been pardoned?” I’m thankful that I’m still alive and well, for my family, and start at George Mason. All of this is possible by the Grace of God, clearly. Because He pardoned us of all our sins when he died on the cross. Like really, where would I be had Jesus not died for me? I don’t really know how to explain it, so I figured I would walk you all through with scripture.
Jeremiah 33:8 KJV And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.Isaiah 53:3-5
3He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 55:7 KJV Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Really think about it, had we not been pardoned, we would be sick and lost. I know I’m not perfect and I thank God for his Grace of keeping me alive to see another Thanksgiving.
So as you’re passing the gravy tomorrow, say a little longer Grace, and thank God for your pardon.
